RS Marine Ltd./ RODS has been a family-owned and operated business since 2012 with Rex Simmonds as the Owner/Operator and Megan Murphy as the Business Manager. RS Marine Ltd offers the services of the M/V Patrick and William which has many functions in today’s marine industry. 

The vessel provides our clients with multiple uses while being current in its technological equipment and exceeds the standard working environment at sea.

Rex Simmonds

Owner/Operator, Marine Captain

Rex Simmonds was born in St. Anthony and comes from a family of seafarers. His father was a seafaring captain for 23 years navigating small freighters around the island of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Rex started working in the family fishing business at the early age of 15. He has been a manager and a captain of his own fishing business since 1990. Over the years he has been an innovator in harvesting with small vessel species and areas that is normally done by larger vessels.

At RS Marine Ltd. Rex is Owner/Operator, Marine Captain and over the years he has acquired the following skills and achievements.

• Completed Fishing Master II at MI in 1984 at the age of 20.
• Innovator of the year in the fishing industry in 1998.
• Member of the Marine Institute, Industry advisory board from 2003 to 2007.
• The first fisherman in Canada to hold a processing at sea license for an inshore vessel.
• Acquired a Fishing Master 1 in 2011.
• Acquired a Watch Keeping Mate certificate in 2013.
• Acquired a 500-ton master certificate in 2014.

Megan Murphy

Business/ Fleet Manager

Megan has extensive experience in Business Administration, Finance, and Material and Human Resource Management.

At RS Marine Ltd. Megan provides complete operational and administrative support to the business in the following areas.
